Colon Therapy

Colon Therapy

My therapy sessions are done in a comfortable and safe environment. It’s important to me to provide my clients with a stress free session using breath and relaxation techniques. Each time a client comes in for a Colon therapy session, I work with the client to determine their current needs.  My recommended guidance provides the basis for the most beneficial treatment for their unique body condition. During the session I guide the client through relaxation techniques so that each session accomplishes a serene and supportive environment to achieve maximum results.

The Colon

The colon’s primary functions are to eliminate waste, conserve water and reabsorb electrolytes and minerals. The colon, or large intestine, is located at the end portion of the human digestive tract. There are also bacteria living in a healthy colon that synthesize valuable nutrients such as, vitamins “K” and portions of the “B” complex.
When a person is constipated (has difficulty having at least one bowel movement a day), the usual cause is inappropriate over processed foods, lack of sufficient water, adequate exercise, and stress and emotional disturbances or not responding to the “call of nature.” The waste material that has remained in the colon too long will dry out and impact the colon walls. This used material and dead cellular tissue, accumulated mucus, parasites, etc, is quite toxic. The colon can neither absorb nor eliminate properly in this condition. Our blood, which circulates throughout every cell and organ, dumps toxins and waste through the colon wall. This is also difficult when our colon is impacted, causing these toxins to be redistributed throughout the body.

The healthy natural immune system can only be built up and maintained in a clean body, a body with minimal amounts of accumulated toxic material. The degree to which the colon is inhabited by harmful bacteria, parasites, old mucus and other toxic organisms will vary greatly among individuals.

Next to heart disease, cancer of the colon ranks as the most frequent cause of death in the United States. So lets pay attention, start by taking care of our bodies nutritional needs, cleaning and detoxifying our colon, getting some form of exercise, rest and drinking clean water.

Questions and Answers

What happens during a colon treatment?

The client relaxes comfortably on a massage table as a small sterile, disposable rectal tube or speculum is gently inserted into the anus. The speculum has a separate water line and waste line, that is attached to the hydrotherapy equipment. You are completely covered with a modesty sheet during the entire process, and because this is a closed system there is no offensive smell. No mess, no fuss, no smell.

colon2The therapist then begins a series of gentle infusions of the warm water into the colon, controlling the water temperature and pressure. A digital ounce counter shows amount of water intake and breathing techniques help the client with opening and relaxing the colon. As soon as the client experiences any urgency or fullness, the waste line is opened.

The water, along with old fecal material, gas, mucus, and toxins are released through the waste line and then through the illuminated viewing tube so that the amount and type of waste being eliminated can be thoroughly assessed. The waste is then flushed away through the sewer line.

Is the procedure painful?

Rarely. Sometimes during the procedure the muscles of the colon will contract suddenly, expelling considerable liquid and waste into the rectum and out the tubing. This contraction may feel like cramping or gas with pressure in the rectum. Most of the process is mild and gentle with a wonderful light, empty and clean feeling afterwards.

Is colon therapy safe?

It is completely safe. The hydrotherapy equipment is FDA approved. Sterile-disposable tubing and speculums are used with each treatment to prevent any contamination. The water pressure gauge has an automatic shut-off at 2lbs per square inch, the normal pressure for a healthy bowel movement.

Can one become dependent on colon therapy?

No. Actually, one of the great features of this therapy is that it tones and exercises the colon and anus muscles so that the colon performs optimally. When we clear out old accumulated waste material we can establish new patterns of elimination, so quite often clients with long term constipation challenges see great improvements and are often entirely released of this challenge.

Will one cleansing completely empty the colon?

Almost never. Many of us have several and more pounds of impacted material in our colon. This is hardened, toxic matter and substantial work must be done to remove it. One cleansing removes some, the second more. When you eat a healthy diet with large amounts of vegetables and fruits which holds the moisture in the colon, the colon will cleans easier and the process will be sped up.

For most people eating a standard american diet I recommend six to ten colon treatments fairly close together to receive a thorough cleansing of the colon. Then a monthly maintenance treatment is suggested to keep the colon cleaned and toned.

Your personal objectives determine how many you wish to have.

Can colon therapy wash away all bacteria, even the good?

After colon cleansing we recommend taking probiotics, to encourage a healthy colon environment.

How do I prepare for a treatment?

For the best cleansing, drink a lot of water and eat plenty of fresh vegetables several days before your treatment. On the day of your treatment you may be more comfortable if you refrain from drinking many liquids two hours before your scheduled appointment time.
